Swaps and replacements

Straight swap onto existing tails is usually a half-day job. Where the new rad is a different size we'll move the tails to suit rather than bodging it with extension pieces that stick out from the wall.

Relocations and new runs

Moving a radiator to a different wall means new pipe work, and how easy that is depends entirely on what's under your floor. We'll have a look and tell you straight whether it's a simple run or a proper job.

Balancing — the bit people skip

A new radiator changes how the whole system flows. If the ones furthest from the boiler have gone cold since somebody fitted a rad, that's why. We balance the system afterwards so every rad gets its share.

Worth knowing

We're plumbers, not Gas Safe registered — so we do everything on the water side, but we don't touch the boiler or any gas appliance. If your job needs that, say so and we'll tell you up front rather than turning up and finding out.

Common questions

Can you fit a radiator I've bought myself?

Yes, no problem. Fit-only is normally cheaper than supply and fit. Just check the centres before you buy — send us a photo of the existing rad and the pipe spacing and we'll tell you whether it'll go straight on.

Can you take my radiators off so I can decorate?

Yes, and it's a very common job. We'll drain down, take them off, cap the tails, then come back and refit once you've finished. Cheaper to do both visits together if you can give us the dates.

Do you work on the boiler as well?

No. We're not Gas Safe registered, so we don't touch boilers or anything on the gas side. Everything on the water side — rads, pipe work, valves, cylinders — is us. If your job needs a Gas Safe engineer we'll tell you at the quote stage.

One radiator is cold at the top. Is that a job for you?

Usually that's just air and bleeding it will sort it. If it's cold at the bottom instead, that's sludge and it needs more than a bleed key. Give us a ring and we'll talk it through before you pay anyone to come out.
